Nanofluids are suspensions of nanoparticles in base fluids, a new challenge for thermal sciences provided by nanotechnology.Nanofluids have enhanced thermal conductivity and high colloidal stability with negligible penalty in the pressure drop.Various concentrations such as 1 %, 2 %, 3%, 4% and 5% of Sio2–water,Sio2-Ethyleneglycol,Tio2–water & Tio2-ethyleneglycol nanofluids have been prepared by stirred bead milling followed by shear homogenization and probe sonication. Optimum conditions (grinding media, Time period and suspension characteristics) for preparation of these nanofluids were identified. Thermophysical properties of nanofluids are measured using KD2-Pro, Brookfield viscometer, specific gravity bottle and particle size is determined using particle size Analyzer(Micro trac). The OD measurement were taken and the nanofluids were found to be reasonably stable for a period of more than one month. Experimental results show that thermal conductivity of nanofluids is higher than the base fluid. The result indicates that the volumetric specific heat of silica and titanium dioxide nanofluid increases gradually with increasing volume concentration of nanoparticles and with increasing temperature too. Viscosity of these nanofluids are decreasing with increase in temperature but with increase in particle concentration nanofluids have shown satisfactory results wit increase in thermal conductivity and decrease in viscosity for all the concentrations.
