The author analyzes key characteristics of semantic (symbolical) type of cultural code, considering metatextuality as one of the most important among them. The author reveals the main epistemological practices, typical for the semantic type of cultural code: text retelling, adaptation, compilation, interpretation, translation, imitation and exegesis.
